PumpCon

Making widows and orphans cry since 1993!

Let’s just pretend the 2007 after party never happened….

Pumpcon is one of the oldest regularly held hacker conventions in the U.S.  Held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on the last weekend before Halloween (October 24,25 this year), Since the mid-90’s, it’s been invite-only, which makes for an interesting experience.

So, if I don’t have an invitation, why should I submit a talk?

If your talk is accepted, we’ll allow you to come and bring a few friends. There are other benefits of speaking at Pumpcon:

you’ll get to present to a small audience of some very clueful hackers.
You’ll get feedback. Many of our presenters have used this forum to perfect talks for the larger ‘cons, like H.O.P.E., DefCon and Shmoocon.

We don’t stream or record talks, nor do we publish speakers’ identities. If you want to give a talk that would get you fired if it got out, this is the place to do it. If you’ve got something interesting that you want feedback on, bring it here.

Previous talks have discussed:
Issues with IP v 6 implementation
Covert channel bugs
Fun with new wireless technologies
Hazards of electronic discovery

Proposals should include the following:

1. A short (1-2 sentence bio)

2. A brief (1-2 paragraph) outline of the talk- what is it about, why should we care?

3. What equipment do you need (above and beyond a LCD projector and a laptop) to present it?

Speakers are compensated only with the warm feeling of doing something good for others, and usually a few pints of Yuengling Lager.

Send all submissions to papers@pumpcon.org
